The Child and Family Center at Shippensburg University is a project of the Shippensburg University Foundation. The Center provides a safe, enriching and supportive educational program for young children and their families. The Center is located at the Grace B. Luhrs University Elementary School on the campus of Shippensburg University. The Child and Family Center is part of a campus community that values research, teaching and service. Students are welcomed into our program and guided as they learn about children and families. The community and region work with the Center to support children and families.

HOURS OF OPERATION
The Child & Family Center is open:
Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
     Full Days/Full week: 4-5 days per week
     Full Days/Part week: 1-3 days per week
The center is closed for seven holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving (two days), Christmas (two days), New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day.

ACCREDITATION
The Child and Family Center at Shippensburg University has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals, for reaching the highest levels of professional standards. The Child & Family Center has also earned a four-star rating by Pennsylvania Keystone STARS, a statewide rating system that identifies quality programs.

OUR STAFF
Each of our full time teachers and the Program Director holds at least a four-year degree in early childhood education, elementary education or a related discipline. In addition, graduate and undergraduate students from Shippensburg University enrich the program by working in the classrooms with our enrolled students.

MEALS & SNACKS
The Center provides nutritious morning and afternoon snacks. A menu is posted at the beginning of each week. If your child is at the Center over lunch hours, please pack a nutritious lunch. Let the Center know about any food allergies your child may have.
